When you’re searching for a Chattanooga family photographer, it’s easy to assume your photos will look just like what you see in the photographer’s portfolio.

The same poses and maybe the same moments. Maybe that’s true to a certain extent when it comes to things like editing.

But when you book a session with me, that’s not really how it works.

And honestly, that’s the whole point.

Your Family Isn’t Meant to Fit Into a Template

Every family shows up in a completely different way.

Some kids are loud and wild, some are quiet and observant, some want to run the whole time, and some want to stay close.

Some families joke constantly, some are more calm and laid back, some are in a season that feels a little crazy, and some are in a slower, quieter season.

There isn’t one “right” way to show connection and emotion.

So I’m not trying to fit your family into something that already exists in my portfolio.

This was a hard realization I had to learn about my sessions. In a world where we constantly see these perfectly curated Instagram grids and wanting to “fit into that mold” … learning that my sessions are just different was tough to grasp.

What a Session With Me Actually Looks Like

I’m not showing up with a checklist of poses to get through.

I’m paying attention to:

• how your kids interact with you
• what naturally happens in your home or location
• what moments feel like you

It is kind of a “child led” experience because honestly, what makes them happy will make us ALL happy in those moments. They usually have the best ideas anyways!

Every session looks a little different because every family is different.

Your Session Is Built Around What Matters to You

Before your session, some of the things I want to know are:

What do you want to remember about this season?

What are your kids doing right now that you know you’re going to miss later?

What does a normal day look like for your family?

Those answers shape your session more than anything else.

The Consistency Is in the Feeling

If you look through my work, you’ll notice that not everything looks the same. What I feel stays consistent is how it feels and my goal is for you to look at your gallery and think “this just feels like us.”

I recently heard someone say, “You won’t remember what a person said or what they did. What you will remember is how they made you feel.”

Everything to me is about feeling. If you look at your gallery and you “feel” the emotion and the connection … mission accomplished!
